Trendy menus and a target market

Deals on wheels for you- what is new for you! Speed, flavor and good prices are elements that make food trucks a more convenient option for office workers. With trendy menus and a target market that will represent 50% of global consumption in a short time, are these trucks the golden dream of entrepreneurs?

The food trucks are more than prepared trucks sold in Mexico, food has become a trend key to attacking the main market in terms of consumption: the millennials. These trucks are ready to offer menus suitable for young people who work in the office; however, the food is just the beginning: gourmet presentations, cars decorated by designers and personalized service add to the offer.

Taking advantage of the opportunity to satisfy the hunger of millions of millennials who seek speed, attention, and the experience of new concepts in gourmet food without the need to make a reservation is something that attracts more and more young entrepreneurs and their food trucks.

How do they manipulate our senses to make us buy more?

Smell

Smell is strongly linked to memory, which makes it a very powerful tool for marketing. In supermarkets, smells evoke pleasant memories and that encourages impulse buying. The aroma of freshly baked bread may remind you of that endearing bakery of your childhood or a vacation in France and, without noticing it, you end up taking six croissants with you. There is research that shows that when people who are watching food commercials are told to imagine how they smell, want and eat more of the promoted products.

Flavor

Apparently, we all like to eat without paying: research shows that at least 75% of people accept free samples when they are offered. Companies also like to give them, because they can increase sales massively. Humans are rational beings by nature. In this way, if a company to which we usually buy increases the price of a product, we will surely look for the same or, some similar, somewhere else and for a lower price. Is it strange to hear complaints about prices? Although we as consumers always see more favorable a reduction in prices!

From the consumer profile, surely, we would answer with a resounding “yes”. However, the answer is much more complex if it is made about the consequences it has towards the whole economy and not individually. In general, the income of Spanish families has decreased. From this perspective, it is possible that these players can buy more products and services than when prices were higher.

Why are they so effective?

It is possible that they operate at a subconscious level, triggering our deep-rooted instinct of reciprocity. In other words, we feel the need to give something to that smiling person who has just given us free food. Free samples can also whet our appetite: a piece of chocolate can remind us how rich it tastes and take us to buy it.
