Acknowledging you have some bad habits

Do you have bad habits that are preventing you from reaching your goals? If yes, you may need to carry out some self-examination because that’s the beginning of acknowledging that, indeed, you have some bad habits.  Start looking for new ways to change those bad habits because that’s the surest way of becoming more successful in life.

One thing you should understand is that once bad habits are developed, doing away with them is not always easy.  But if you are determined, I can assure you that you will be able to change them with good habits that will help you accomplish your goals.

Letting go of our bad habits should be seen as a step in the right direction toward achieving what we want in our lives. You may not want to face the reality that discomfort is one of the problems you may have to encounter in life.  It is important to see it as a stepping stone to your destination.

To become successful it is normal to experience some discomfort and challenges: it is through these experiences you learn more about your true identity. The moment you discover a goal that you want to work toward and achieve in the future, your next call to action will be to properly examine yourself with regard to your habits and to define those that are preventing you from moving forward.

Once you can check and identify those habits, making changes and replacing them with habits that will help you accomplish your desires will ensure that your dreams will become a reality. The easiest way to go about this is by using a pen and paper to write down those habits that are hindering your progress and try to come up with alternatives that would assist you in accomplishing your goals.

It’s not possible to stop a bad habit without replacing it with something new. Making the decision to replace those bad habits with new ones is the first step in the right direction. Bear in mind that you have to practice those new habits and this process is going to take some time before your new system becomes a part of your lifestyle.

While some believe that it takes approximately 21 days to start practicing a new habit, I am of the opinion that it may take three months or even more. The bad habits that have enveloped you have been part of you for a long time and replacing them are not going to be an easy task. Just like a child who is learning how to walk, at the beginning trying new habits may make you feel uncomfortable, but don’t allow this to trouble you because it is all part of the process of learning a better way to accomplish your goals.

I believe that on most occasions we all wish that we could have everything in a Plate of Gold:  if wishes were horses then beggars would ride.  So try to understand that life does not work that way. Practice hard and even harder up to the point when you have the new way of doing thing integrated into your life and they become a part of you so you don’t have to think about them anymore.

As you begin the process of evaluating those bad habits of yours, chances are high that you will encounter some that will refuse to go away. Maybe what you will require on your part is a little tweaking. Are there ways you could turn things around and make them work to your advantage?

Again, performing some self-examination is all that is needed in order to discover those bad habits that are dragging you backwards and look for ways to either eliminate them, replace them with new good habits or, better still, tweak them so they don’t become a problem by preventing you from accomplishing your goals and living the kind of life you have always dreamed off.
