First off I am not blatantly bashing playing the lottery. I’m not saying you can’t buy lottery tickets to see if it can’t financially change your life for the better or see what happens. At the same time, you must ask the question, “How many successful people do you know who’s ‘Retirement Plan’ consist of weekly lottery ticket purchases?”
Being honest with yourselves, virtually all of us, if not everyone, have dreamed of becoming wealthy and successful. Notwithstanding, how much time do we consume thinking and wishing about being this fortunate? And how much time do we consume thinking how we would spend our money if we became wealthy?
Being straightforward, sitting around thinking and wishing for fortune to happen to you in this form is not realistic. That is genuinely what we call the “Lottery Mentality”. Anytime you feel you deserve to win something without working for it, that’s the lottery mentality. Having a Lottery Mentality is a clear-cut way to never achieve your full potential. In fact, the lottery mentality sucks. Sucks the success right out of your life, period!
We are engineered to believe that if we are not yet fortunate enough to have won a jackpot yet, the likelihood of our lottery ticket being a winner soon has increased. We get afraid that if we quit playing, we might miss that big payout. This train of thought is a false assumption and compels us to keep trying in hopes our luck will sway for the better.
Even though it is fun to dream, dreams without action are just wishes and wishes rarely materialize without some diligence or a plan to achieve the goal. Have no goals or a plan to achieve them? Prepare for your dreams to sooner or later go off and die somewhere. It doesn’t happen all at once, but over a period of time, attitudes change, behaviors change, and one day we reflect back perplexed why “not anything favorable ever happens to me”.
If we exist in a lottery mentality state for too long, we begin to lose our drive to be productive and successful. It makes us believe we are hopeless and helpless victims in this world. That compels the question, how does an average person become wealthy, while a great many of educated and talented people do not? The simple answer is that person just wanted it more, and made the sacrifices to create wealth.
The first action to personal and financial loftiness is believing in you that every goal is possible, if realistic, which would make it accomplishable.
Resolve that you’re going to take control of your life and make it to where you want because you are determined to make it happen. People with “lottery mentalities” generally do not believe they have what it takes to be immensely successful any other way. Therefore they continue throwing money away on lottery tickets that do nothing more than suck money out of their pockets.
This might upset those of you who are ardent lottery ticket buyers and that is okay because the truths are the truths.
Successful people believe they create their own “luck.” Luck is strictly where preparation meets opportunity, and opportunity steps before you every single day. Most people miss it because it’s concealed as something that requires effort. The antidote for a lottery mentality is mastery of a skill. And mastery of a skill will always advance you to success. Like the universal law of life affirms. Sowing always comes before reaping; just like the only place that success comes before work is in the dictionary.
Whether it is furthering your education to be qualified for a better paying job, or becoming an entrepreneurial spirited person who chose to make a calculated investment in a legitimate brick and mortar business or Internet business. Let’s stay with the Internet business for a second. It is not a secret that the Internet is the land of abundance and limitless reach of potential customers. Don’t gamble that business opportunity away or waste time hoping winning the lottery will happen instead. You owe it to yourself to make it transpire. You are worth it!
So if you want to steer away from dealing with life as a game of chance and steer it into a game that’s not only more under your control, but statistically gives you better odds at achievement as well as gratification. Just begin dealing with your goals with the same intensity and stubbornness as to make sure you’re “in the game” as you would if taking a chance in one of the state lotteries.
Resolve that you’re going to lose the ‘Lottery Mentality’ and start embracing an “I can” attitude towards whatever it takes to getting a better paying job or becoming an entrepreneur. Not only will you empower yourself instantly, but you will also see such transitions in all aspect of your life like you never imagined.
